Minutes of Meeting 1

Date: Tuesday 5 May 2009
Time: 4pm
Location: Maritime Museum

Attendees: Scott Andrew, Michael Van Tiel, Fara Palarek, Becky Chapman

Apologies: Jo Henwood, Andrew Gray, James Manser, Lisa Pickett

Michael & Scott updated Becky & Fara about the history of the Forums and IMTAP.We had a brief look at the feedback from last years forum and will take this into consideration
Our broad starting theme of inclusion was discussed. Our proposed dates of the 22 & 23 April. By focusing on a particular aspect of practise for the 2010 forum leaves the large showcasing stuff for the 2011 IMTAL Conference.

Becky presented briefly the Accessible Arts conference to held at the Powerhouse Museum on the 25 & 26 March 2010. The conference name is “Arts Activated - Arts • Access • Excellence” and the conference themes are “Innovation, Policy/Framework, Practice”. They are essentially at the initial planning phases too.

Discussion centred around how we could work together. It was thought that it could be possible for both groups to share a common first day & keynote. If necessary the Forum could break away to another Venue on the second day when the AA conference becomes policy focused, but sessions are available to both groups. By working together it was a good way of getting managers who focus on policy to see our work by attending a joint conference. Also it would also broaden access to our performer base.

Actions

1. Becky Chapman was going to report back to Accesible Arts about the option of IMTAP & AA working together to run a joint program. Becky was also going to check on how confirmed the AA date was and if they would change date if the other date suited everyone better.
